Digitizing Your World
The Makers of Robocular created this 3D Scanner to solve a dilemma in the world of 3D Scanning. For a long time individuals, as well as businesses, had to choose between either having a high quality/high Resolution desk-top 3D Scanner that would take thousands, if not tens-of-thousands, of “dollars” out of their budget or an affordable desk-top 3D Scanner that just couldn’t allow the user to capture the full detail of their objects. Robocular uses Lasers and High-Definition cameras to maximize the amount of detail captured from your objects. Robocular scans in full color and captures more than 4000 images of your object for every full rotation of the turn-table. The Laser used is green rather than red; green lasers are more intense so they capture more detail than red lasers. Unlike most of the other 3D Scanners designed to sit on your desk, Robocular can enclose around the object you intend to scan, this keeps any ambient light from causing glare or other anamolies on your scanned object. This feature is especially important if you’re planning on buying a 3D Scanner for an industrial or coporate environment as the intensity of the florescent bulbs normally used in these environment often affects the color saturation of images taken even with the best of cameras under these lights.
The Robocular comes in a Standard and Mini version. The camera and Laser on the Standard version sweep over your object during Scanning, this improves the accuracy of the scan. The camera and laser on the Mini version are fixed. Though the Standard version can accammodate an object up to 9 x 9 inches the Mini version still has a very usable Scan Volume of 7 x 7 inches. 3D Scanners allow you to manipulate Scanned object by adding, removing, or changing any aspect. Robocular also comes with a software customized just for itself, allowing you to get the most out of your new Scanner.
Robocular is built to withstand the test of time as it is constructed out of tough ABS Plastic and sheet metal, making it ideal for industrial and other environemnts where sensitive electronics tend to receive bumps and bruises. During the Kickstarter campaign you can get a Robocular Mini for as low as $499 USD! The Standard version is only $200 more at $699 USD. The Makers even provide an option for you to order a customized version of your Scanner. As time goes on we are happy to see more and more high quality 3D Scanning devices that are affordable and beneficial to many.
